Time: Wednesday 10.12.2008 at 12:11 PM - 1:46 PM Place: AgC223.1, project meeting space Present: * Teemu Nisu, chairman * Tommi Teistelä, secretary * Richard Domander * Tuomas Mäenpää * Matthieu Weber * Ville Isomöttönen Minutes 1. Opening Richard was supposed to be the chairman, but he was late (due to an exam). Since the meeting was already delayed a bit and inspecting the application report could take a while, it was agreed that Teemu, who was to be the chairman next week, would swap places with him and the meeting would be started without waiting for Richard. Presence of quorum was confirmed. 2. Approval of agenda Ville asked about when we'd look at the bug list, since it wasn't on the [wiki:agenda20081210 agenda] as a separate item. * The agenda was approved with the following change: o Bugs will be discussed at section 4 (progress since previous meeting). 3. Approval of the minutes of the previous meeting The last meeting's minutes were inspected briefly and approved with a few changes. Richard joined the meeting during the discussion. * The suggested changes were: o just call them "bugs" instead of "backlog" o weekly tasks should be listed explicitly near the end of the minutes o 7-second bug wasn't mentioned as an issue to resolve at all 4. Progress since previous meeting / bugs Richard's been looking at the bug that's causing the subtitles to be [ticket:15 delayed] by approximately 0.5 seconds, but hasn't found the cause yet. It seems to be occurring with the code from the SVN version of MPlayer, too. Since the usual MPEG group of pictures (GOP) is about 0.5 seconds long, it was suggested some change in MPlayer dealing with that may have something to do with the bug. The bug causing the subtitle images to have odd [ticket:16 noise-like glitches] at their lower right corner was discussed. It may be caused by MPlayer's scaling algorithms (which one of them is the subtitle code using?) assuming the image's dimensions are multiples of 8 (or some other power of two). Teemu presented the new testing results, which show the [ticket:17 7-second delay bug] with the MPEG TS seek in some streams was fixed, but the fix seems to have introduced an issue where two rapid successive seeks of very different lengths will break the code and usually push the seek past EOF. Matthieu didn't consider this issue very serious, but noted the code in the last patch was noticeably less responsive than the old code. Tommi said this should be less of an issue with the 7-second delay bug fixed - the delay was caused by the demuxer unexpectedly processing more frames than it would have needed to. Matthieu noted he'd prefer if the 0.5 second subtitle delay would be considered a priority. The audio filtering hasn't been tested yet. 5. Inspection of the application report The application report was inspected page by page and mostly approved, with some changes, which are listed on [wiki:appreportchanges20081210 another page]. 6. Tasks for the rest of the iteration The remaining tasks for the project were discussed and Ville said it would be preferable to finish as many of them before Christmas as possible. Tuomas suggested the remaining bugs and the project report should be given priority. As only one week remains for the iteration, any specific tasks are listed at the next item, weekly tasks. 7. Weekly tasks Decisions * The remaining bugs, but especially the 0.5 second subtitle delay issue, should be looked at. * The project report will be inspected in the next meeting. If the practice of sending materials two days before a meeting is to be maintained, an inspectable version should be available on Monday. * The tickets in trac should be updated. 8. Decision of the time and place for the next meeting The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 17.12 at 12:00 PM. 9. Closing The meeting was closed at 1:46 PM.
